UK VICTIM OF CRIME
RAPE COMPENSATION CLAIM
If you’ve been a victim of crime and have been sexually assaulted we can help you make a risk-free, no win no fee application for compensation to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority. Our advisers are very experienced in making claims for sexual offences and rape compensation. You will receive a sympathetic hearing and if you prefer, you can speak with someone of your own gender. You will not be asked to contribute or pay for any part of the claim as it proceeds. Simply put, you will not pay anything unless you win. Our CICA rape compensation claims are completely risk-free. At no point during the claims process will you be required to pay or contribute. You only pay if you win. We are an independant claims company with no connection to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority.
If you have been sexually assaulted or raped, the best thing to do is to go somewhere you will feel safe, preferably somewhere you can get help from others. Seeking medical help as soon as possible after the assault is the best thing to do. You can seek assistance at the accident and emergency department at your local hospital or, if you feel more comfortable, at your general practitioner’s surgery. Other options are the Genito-Urinary Clinic at most larger hospitals, Well Woman Clinics and the Family Planning Clinic.
Anyone can be a victim of serious crime and rape and sexual assault happen regardless of age, race and gender. The UK Government estimates that every year there are in the region of 200,000 serious sexual assaults and almost 50,000 rapes or attempted rapes. One in 20 women in the UK has been the victim of rape and almost 200 women are raped every day but less than 40 are reported to the police.
In order to qualify for rape compensation through the CICA, the assault must be reported to the police as soon as possible. If you don’t want to go to the police station, arrangements can be made for a home interview by the police. It is extremely important that you report the incident as soon as possible. When making the report, it is important to ensure that you keep all clothing and do not shower or bathe prior to filing the report because you may be required to provide physical DNA evidence of the assault to a police surgeon.
Date rape is one of the most common methods of rape for habitual rapists with the usual technique relating to spiked drinks most often using Rohyprol (also called roofies), which sedates the victim and causes coordination problems. This drug dissolves easily and stays in the system for a very short period of time and as a result it is extremely important to get to the police as soon as possible in order to supply a urine sample, if rape is suspected. Other suspect pharmaceuticals used include GHB and Ketamine which are powerful tranquilizers and can also be difficult to detect.
If you have been a victim of crime you can contact Victim Support directly for help or alternatively the Police will make contact about your case if you request them to do so.
